“J.I.D came from my grandmother,” he says. “It stands for jittery. The way she said it was just a little different. It sound like J-I-D.”.
The East Atlanta native, who is signed to J. Cole’s label Dreamville, might be one of Hip-Hop’s most exciting live acts today. His crowd reportedly broke the floor of one the venues he performed at, while jumping along to tracks of his sophomore album DiCaprio 2.
This fall, J.I.D will share this floor-breaking magic on his “Catch Me If You Can” tour, during which he will also visit REC. Festival! On the 30th of November, the rapper will be headlining our mainstage in Annabel. (And more good news is coming our way, as new music is likely to drop this fall. Probably just in time for REC. Vol. 4.)
Both Domani Harris and GRIP will warm up the room on the 30th of November.
Domani, T.I.'s son, already released three records by the age of 18 and recently got under J.Cole's radar, who congratulated him on hit latest album ("I feel like you delivered a classic...I'm highly impressed.").
Grip is quite the contrary. The Atlantan-based 30-year-old father of two could be considered an industry secret. In the two records he's released since 2017, he raps about how Atlanta and his experiences made him into the man he is today. Although he's not widely known to the big public (yet!), he's getting much appreciation from the industry.
